Health and Safety
Healthcare in Israel is not free and can be very expensive depending on the car or treatment recieved. Medical facilities will insist on payment and may even take legal action to delay flight departures. We strongly recommend you have an International medical insurance plan if you are traveling to Israel .

Foreigners, especially British and American nationals, are strongly advised not to travel through the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and the borders of Lebanon because of military and political strife.

Avian Flu has been reported in a number of areas in Southern Israel and the Jordan River Valley . Accordingly, you are advised to avoid live animal markets, poultry markets, or other areas where you may come into contact with domestic, caged, or wild birds.

Currency
Israeli currency is referred to as the Shekel (INS). A midrange hotel in Israel will usually cost around 100 -450 Shekels (US$60) a night and an average meal will cost about 60 INS.

Visas
Citizens of Singapore , India , some African and Central American states, and ex-soviet republics require a visa to enter Israel . However, most countries do not require visas. Tourists are usually granted stays lasting durations up to 90 days. Be aware that many other Arab countries will not allow you to enter if you have an Israeli stamp or visa displayed within the pages of your passport.

Weather
Israel's sub-tropical climate has very pronounced seasons in which Summer and Winter can be extremely severe. Summers are consistently hot and dry with temperatures reaching 40°C. The rainy season lasts from November to March and the temperature frequently drops below zero during winter.
